Crying out your name

by Sabine Cindy Jobin, born in Haiti, adopted to Quebec, Canada

I chose minimalist instrumentation, mainly acoustic piano, because truth is often found in simplicity. It is a soft and sad song that invites introspection, carried by my voice to offer a feeling of comfort.

The sadness of the melody reflects the long and sometimes painful path of searching, but the warmth of the voice is there to embody the hope and resilience that drive us, preventing us from giving up.

I wanted the music to reflect the intimacy of this quest. The acoustic piano and the softness of my voice contrasts with the difficulty of the subject, offering a moment of comfort and recognition. This song is a message of hope and resilience for the millions of individuals, young and old, who are searching for their origins or their loved ones.

The single ‘Crier Ton Nom’ was made available on all streaming and download platforms on 20 November 2025, International Children’s Day.

Crier ton nom / Crying out your name

The sky cries on my pillow

Her absence has broken me

Her smile fell in May

Hey, the plane took off

And another smile was created

BUT in another home

Unexpected sadness,

heartbroken, uprooted

Warm me when I’m cold

These memories of you

Your fingers weave invisible dreams

Your DNA is woven into me

I shouted your name! I shouted your name!

But you can’t hear me

Maybe you’re not there anymore? Haaa

If that’s not the case, we’ll see each other again

When the day comes, and that day will come

You’ll be proud of me

And when I think of you

Do you think of me

(The mother singing)

Two families, distant but united

In a life deconstructed

Deconstructed, I don’t know who I am

I negotiated with life

Tomorrow will be easier than today

It’s Mom who’s telling you this,

oh yes, I miss you so much in my life

In our hearts, a melody

In our story, dreams unfold

The stars shine, a treasure, at the same time

Our love never, ever sleeps

A love stronger than the cold

I shouted your name! I shouted your name!

But you can’t hear me

Maybe you’re no longer here?

If that’s not the case, we’ll see each other again

When the day comes, and that day will come

You’ll be proud of me

And when I think of you

Do you think of me
