Nicky Hammond

NSW Social Events Co-ordinator

Nicky Hammond is a Korean transracial intercountry adoptee who was adopted as an infant by an Australian family in Sydney with her identical twin sister.

Whilst Nicky did not have exposure to Korean culture until later in life, she identified a personal fascination with language and culture. Studying French, she gained a Bachelor of International Studies alongside her Interior Design degree, spending a year in France.

Years later, Nicky finally explored her own Korean heritage, living and studying in her homeland of the Republic of Korea for almost two years. Whilst gaining a Master of International Studies, she learned the language, immersed herself in the culture and connected with the Korean adoptee community living in Seoul in a house for Korean Adoptees called KoRoot .

Over the years Nicky found a lot of personal satisfaction serving the community. She worked for government, not-for profit organisations in the multicultural sector in Sydney and overseas.

In 2017, Nicky began a more personal journey of self-discovery and transformation, earning certifications as a Master Coach and Breathwork Facilitator, focusing on holistic approaches to personal growth.

These days, Nicky balances her work in the community development sector with running a business, while raising two boys and a staffy dog with her husband in the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

In her spare time, Nicky enjoys connecting with the ICAV community, organizing social events for ICAV NSW members. She was recently awarded a 2024 ICAFFS Small Grant to develop and deliver a coaching and breathwork program for intercountry adoptees.
