Intercountry adoption is a lifelong experience, and the need for support does not end in childhood.
ICAV connects intercountry adoptees with adoptee-led services, peer support networks, search and reunion assistance, and other post-adoption resources around the world.
We recognise the importance of independent, adoptee-informed support that respects our diverse experiences, identities and needs.

Understanding the Support Listed Here
ICAV prioritises adoptee-led and adoptee-informed support, recognising the value of lived experience in understanding the lifelong impacts of intercountry adoption.
Our directories primarily feature adoptee-led organisations and professionals. Where relevant, we also include government-funded and other services, which are identified separately where possible.
Some services are free, while others charge fees. Many offer support beyond their geographical location.
We encourage adoptees to consider the independence, experience, qualifications and suitability of any organisation or professional before accessing their services. Service availability and details should be confirmed directly with the provider.
Official Adoption Authorities
Looking for an official government contact regarding your adoption?
The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) provides a directory of Central Authorities responsible for implementing the 1993 Hague Adoption Convention.
These authorities are separate from adoptee-led support services. Assistance with historical adoptions, records and searching varies by country.
Government Reported Post Adoption Support
Explore what countries report about their post-adoption services and arrangements through the HCCH Country Profiles.
These reports describe government-reported provisions, not independently verified service availability.

Content note: These resources discuss potentially distressing experiences including abuse, suicide and death. Visitors can choose whether and when to engage with them.
If you need support or are concerned about immediate safety, please contact an appropriate crisis or emergency service in your country. ICAV’s educational and peer-support listings are not emergency services.
